Rak-Yom represents a balanced pairing of spiritual forces, bound together to work in harmony for the benefit of the worshipper. This particular set was carved, empowered, and consecrated by Luang Phor Saeng of Wat Som Poi, Buriram Province, approximately ten years ago. Sacred Composition and Materials This Rak-Yom set consists of two hand-carved wooden figures with clenched fists, each created from highly specific and ritually significant materials: Rak – carved from dead Crown Tree wood Yom – carved from dead Star Gooseberry wood Both trees were selected under strict traditional criteria, most notably that their roots pointed toward the north, a direction associated in Thai occult belief with spiritual authority, control, and command over unseen forces. The two figures are immersed in Nam Man Aatan, a mysterious and potent sacred oil long associated with attraction, influence, and spirit bonding. Accompanying the effigies are two silver takruts, further enhancing the amulet’s protective and commanding qualities. Ritual Enlivenment and Spirit Invitation After carving the wooden effigies, Luang Phor Saeng placed them in a perfumed brass bowl and performed an advanced ritual of consecration. Through the chanting of sacred incantations, he formally invited child spirits to take up residence within the effigies. According to traditional belief, successful enlivenment is confirmed when the figures move or shift by themselves, signaling acceptance by the spirits and completion of the ritual. This process differentiates Rak-Yom from symbolic amulets alone; they are regarded as active spiritual companions, responsive to care, respect, and communication. Spiritual Properties and Benefits Rak-Yom is especially revered for its influence in Metta Maha Niyom, a broad spiritual category encompassing: Loving-kindness and compassion Personal charm and admiration Influence and authority over people Attraction and popularity Mercy, goodwill, and favor from others Good fortune and improved opportunities For business owners, negotiators, and those in public-facing roles, Rak-Yom is traditionally believed to help soften hearts, attract clients, and encourage cooperation. In personal life, it is often sought for improving relationships, social standing, and general luck. Worship and Care Rak-Yom should be treated with the same care and sincerity afforded to spirit-based amulets such as Guman Thong. Proper offerings and regular attention are considered essential: Offer sweet drinks, candy, and treats Speak gently and kindly to Rak-Yom Recite the prescribed katha frequently Clearly and politely express your wishes Consistent communication and respectful treatment are believed to strengthen the bond between the worshipper and the spirits, allowing Rak-Yom to work more effectively. Lineage and Authenticity Luang Phor Saeng of Wat Som Poi, Buriram, is known for his knowledge of traditional spirit effigies and sacred oils. Rak-Yom creations from recognized masters are uncommon, as the rituals involved are complex and require deep understanding of spirit invocation, control, and ethical boundaries. This makes authentic Rak-Yom amulets especially valued among serious collectors and practitioners.
